Forr at the Final Four

March 30, 2011 - Neil Rudel

Our area will be represented at the NCAA women's basketball Final Four.

Mary Forr, a 2007 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic and the Mirror's 2007 athlete of the year, is a senior walk-on at Notre Dame.

It's no surprise that Forr made the team as she was a role model while in high school, an outstanding player who led BG to the 2007 PIAA Class A title and the recipient of the Blair County Sports Hall of Fame's 2007 scholar-athlete award.

Forr becomes the second Blair County player to reach these heights, following Hollidaysburg's Pam Webber, a co-captain of Connecticut's unbeaten team of 1995.

Notre Dame crashed the party by defeating Tennessee on Monday. The Irish will now take on Geno, Maya Moore and the Lady Huskies in the nitecap of Sunday's doubleheader.

Forr's presence gives us a team to pull for, er, Forr.
