Postcards from Florida: I'm driving around in my grandpa car

We have a nice and bubbly young lady at the Mirror named Shasta who's in her early 20s, and her nickname for me is "Gramps." Now, I'm not old -- only 37 -- but she thinks I am because I'm stuck in the 1980s with my music and pop culture references (Journey, Foreigner, John Cusack films, etc).

Shasta would die laughing if she saw the ridiculous rental car I got stuck with in Florida. It's the ultimate grandparent car, a massive Mercury Grand Marquis that makes me feel old and gray and ready for retirement. The seats are so low to the ground, it's no wonder many of the Florida retirees driving around in these things can barely see above the steering wheel.

There was no difference in price between the mid-size and full-size rental, so I was hoping to luck out like I did last year, when they upgraded me for free to a gorgeous and cheap Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV. Instead, this year I got upgraded to a giant land boat that goes 0 to 60 in about 20 seconds and ages me about 20 years.
