Hines Ward to be on 'Dancing with the Stars'

February 28, 2011 - Cory Giger
Hines Ward can catch and block with the best receivers in the NFL, and he apparently can dance, too.

America will find out just how well beginning in three weeks as Ward will be a contestant on the upcoming season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," according to published reports Monday night.

The Pittsburgh Steelers star will be competing against the likes of boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, "Karate Kid" Ralph Macchio, former "Cheers" star Kirstie Alley and professional wrestler Chris Jericho.

Ward's dancing partner will be Kym Johnson, according to reports. Johnson has danced with David Hasselhoff, Donny Osmond, Warren Sapp and Mark Cuban, among others, in previous seasons of "Dancing with the Stars."

Other NFL football players who have appeared on the show include Emmitt Smith (who won in 2006), Jerry Rice and Jason Taylor.

Ward, who turns 35 next Tuesday, had 59 catches for 755 yards and five TDs this past season and helped the Steelers reach the Super Bowl.

The new season of the show begins March 21.
