Only a Few More Chances

August 19, 2010 - Altoona Curve

When all is said and done, the 2010 Altoona Curve could bring a piece of history to the region with their first-ever Eastern League championship.

As this is posted, the Curve hold a six-game lead in their division with 19 left to play.  This puts the team in very good position to make the playoffs.  If they make the post-season, this club appears to have as good a shot as any to win the whole thing.  Excellent starting pitching, a good blend of gap power, speed, and timely hitting on offense, a strong bullpen, and solid defense.

All of the ingredients are there.  Will you join us at BCB to help us put the Curve over the top?  There are just 11 home dates left in the 2010 season - just six of them on weekends.  A quick run-down of additional reasons to watch your first-place team in Curve, Pa. next week:

Monday:  $1 Grandstand Tickets - old/unused ticket stub or Altoona Mirror coupon is all you'll need to get good seats for ONE BUCK!

Tuesday:  The final Two-for-Tuesday of the season - two-for-one tickets, hot dogs, and small popcorn all night!

Wednesday:  UPMC Health Plan member night  - each member has or will receive a postcard good for two free tickets to this game.  If you're a member don't forget to check your mailbox.  If you're not a member, find a friend who is and offer to buy them a Curve burger if they take you along.

Thursday:  Penguins' forward Pascal Dupuis appearance & 90-minute autograph session plus Thirsty Thursday specials ($2 Yuengling 16 oz. drafts and $1.50 small sodas)

Friday (Aug. 27):  Back-to-School 3-Ring Binder Giveaway (first 1,500 kids age 14 and under)

Saturday (Aug. 28):  Zooperstars and Full Team Autograph Session

Sunday (Aug. 29):  Post-game Fireworks and Soccer Clinic (during the day)
