August 18, 2010 - Emily Dimov-Gottshall
A few months ago the Allegheny Creamery and Crepes in Hollidaysburg hosted an art exhibit concerning the Panzi Foundation in the hopes of raising awareness. I got to see some of the paintings and have them here to share.
What is the Panzi Foundation? The mission of this group is to raise awareness about the crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo and to raise funds for the Panzi Hospital in Bukavu, DR Congo.
The artwork was done to inspire a new look at the women who have been through so much emotional and physical turmoil...a way of lifting the women up as well as giving us a chance to reflect on their needs and help them. Please check out their website for more information and where to donate.
The art is part of a traveling exhibit which will be shown at the Virginia Holocaust Museum April 1, 2011 in Richmond, VA.
