BCB: More than Just Baseball

August 9, 2010 - Altoona Curve

Another good example of Blair County Ballpark being the home to more than just baseball comes up on Tuesday.

McAneny Brothers' annual "Field of Deals" food show will be held on the concourse during the day.  This is an opportunity for the food distribution company to show retailers all that they have to offer on one day in one location.  The fact that the location is the ballpark is great for all involved - McAneny, the retailers, the Curve franchise and, indirectly, the team and its fans.

How does a food show help the Curve team and its fans, you ask?  Well, McAneny Brothers not only believes in putting on a great show in a unique location as good business practice, but they also use the day as a customer and employee appreciation event.  After the show is over, they host a picnic at the ballpark (complete with live music) and invite all attendees to stay for the Curve game.  McAneny-owned Hometown Markets in Bellwood, Philipsburg, and Hollidaysburg also sponsors a fireworks show that follows the game.

So, the large company picnic and post-game fireworks help build a large crowd at the ballpark.  In turn, a large crowd - especially for a Tuesday night - will help add more atmosphere and energy for the Curve to feed off of as they play Trenton.

Thanks to McAneny Brothers for choosing to host such a great event at BCB. We're looking forward to another successful show for everybody involved!
