Bungie goes beyond expectations for Reach

July 26, 2010 - Nick Recchia & Tom Worthington

Bungie has really outdone themselves this time. With their announcements at Comic-Con, they really took Reach to a whole new level. Not sure what announcements I am refering to? Well there are too many to list here. But I will give you a quick run down of some of the awesomeness unleashed by Bungie within the last few days.

Blood Gulch/Coagulation: Yep, it's back. One of the long awaited map rebuilds has finally arrived. This time arround it's called Hemorrhage. It is pretty much what you remember the old maps looking like but has a color scheme like that of Val Halla from Halo 3.

Beyond the Canyon: About a week or so ago, we were told about going "beyond the canyon". What exactly did that mean? Well at first I thougth that it meant that Hemorrhage was going to be an extremely large map, beyond what Blood Gulch ever was. Well this is kind of true.

How so? Well if you take a look at Hemorrhage now, you will notice that it is no longer closed in. Take a short trip in the new Falcon out of the canyon and you will realize that Hemorrhage is just a smaller section of a larger world called Forge World. And it is beautiful.

Forgeworld: Instead of going into one map and editing you now have a huge area of terrain to build whatever you can imagine. At the start they have four areas for you to build on, the island, the rock, a small pocket in the side of the mountain and a grifball court inside the mountain. But that is just the beginning. Don't want to use those? How about building a map into the side of the mountain? It's possible now with the new and greatly improved Forge 2.0 system. Everything is easier to build. Plus one of the coolest features is called phasing. You can now phase multiple objects together or into the terrain. It's going to be awesome to see what the community comes up with.

Firefight: Firefight has been made completely customizable. You can now choose what covenant come with each wave, if they use dropships or not, which skulls are on for each wave, so on and so on. Not only that but you can now fight alongside the covenant. And not to mention drive a new vehicle, the forklift. Nope, not lying.

It seems that bungie has taken everything that the Halo community has wanted for years and put it into this game. I'm sure Bungie wanted to go out with a bang and I think they have done their job. For A LOT more information follow the link provided and free up some time because you will have a ton of information to digest.
