| | My Spike VGA 09 highlightsDecember 14, 2009 - Nick Recchia & Tom WorthingtonThe Spike Video Game Awards 09 were on this weekend so a few friends and I gathered to watch (that and the Pens game). And to be honest, it was kind of lame. The best part of the night, in my opinion, was Jack Black's antics at the very beginning of the show when he won for Best Voice in a Game but instead was accepting as if he won game of the year. Shenanigans ensued. Overall the show seemed like it was a battle between 5-6 games and it became more of a "ok whose turn is it to win" kinda thing. However, there were a few things that got me excited. First and foremost was Halo Reach. It looked amazing. If the game really looks that pretty when it ships I think my head may explode. Plus, I am always down for a new Halo game. Second thing on my list was the announcement of Batman Arkham Asylum 2! I loved, loved, loved the first one. So being able to have more of that goodness is awesome. I am hoping that this time you are able to battle VERY large groups of enemies. Maybe not so much in the campaign but in side games. With the combat system being as great as it is you almost feel like you can take on more and more baddies. Medal of Honor and Spec Ops: The Line definitely get honorable mention here. Both games join Modern Warfare 2 in the, well, modern warfare genre and both games look pretty good. Green Day Rock Band was announced and as much as I love Rock Band I know I won't be buying this game. Now don't get me wrong, I've always liked Green Day but I don't really understand Green Day having their own Rock Band. In this case I think Green Day albums released in the Music Store would be a better choice. My last note about the VGA's is maybe next year they can get some more entertaining acts than Snoop Dogg and The Bravery. I like Snoop but it's not like he has a song sitting at the top of the charts. And The Bravery? Really? I understand that they have songs in a few video games but couldn't we get someone a little better? I couldn't even understand a word that came out of the singers mouth. Anyways... I was disappointed that Tim Shaefer won nothing for his work on Brutal Legend and that Borderlands didn't even get a mention. It seemed like the "powers that be" were simply pandering to all the big titles of the year. Post a Comment | EZToUse.comBlog Photos![]() Blog Links |
