Steeler Nation: In Crisis
September 28, 2009 - John Mehno
You remember how Bill Cowher used to talk about the thin line between losing and winning in the NFL?
The Steelers are on the wrong side of that line these days, which is why they've lost two games in the final seconds after winning their first game that way. People want to make more of this than they need to. There are two or three plays every game that are swinging things the wrong way. Start making those plays again, and the results will be positive. Miss field goals, and shy away from short yardage situations, and you lose. It's not complicated.
Meanwhile, the Pirates go 3-22, then take three of four from the Los Angeles Dodgers, one of the best teams in the league. Good news for the crew in the visiting clubhouse, because they don't have to clean up after a clinching celebration. Instead, it's a quiet end to a bad season.
Update on the Guess How Many Games The Pirates Will Win Contest:
There are three entrants still alive: Lisa, Alan and Erik. The winner will be announced after the end of play this Sunday.
