| | Not too brightSeptember 15, 2009 - Mark LeberfingerSometimes you wonder what goes on inside the criminal mind. There's a story out of Bradford that has me scratching my head. Police in McKean County said one of the men charged in the death of a pregnant woman in a rooming house allegedly sent pictures of the crime scene to the woman's sister in California, the Associated Press reported today. According to the AP report, Bradford police said that Megan Konopka's sister alerted them after suspect Thomas Haggie of Bradford called her and sent two cell phone photos of the scene. Haggie was lodged in a New York state jail, awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania. Greggory Theobald, also of Bradford, was in the McKean County Prison. They await a preliminary hearing on two homicide charges -- one for Megan Konopka's death and the other for her unborn child's death. It makes you wonder why -- why the killings and why send photos of the crime scene to a family member of the deceased. Some things are probably better left unexplained.
