Don't bet on it

The Steelers open their exhibition season tonight at Heinz Field against the Arizona Cardinals.

Pittsburgh is a 3-point favorite.

If you look at the odds for the first week of the NFL preseason, almost every home team is a 3-point favorite.

It's almost impossible to predict the outcomes of the exhibition games simply because the starters don't play much and often care even less.

That leaves two reasons to bet NFL exhibition games: 1) You have enough extra income that you don't care; 2) You're addicted.

My two cents: wait for the real thing.
