Carolina came out flying and where able to sneak the first one in. Then Fleury had enough as he shutdown Carolina time after time. Pittsburgh mounted their own offensive and in the end it would be a fluke goal for the winner. Talbot shot a puck that immediately hit a defenders stick and knuckled into the air, as it came down Ward looked poised and ready with the glove but no luck as it eluded the pocket and drifted into the net. The Penguins later added an insurance marker from Guerin and Adams topped it off with an Empty-netter. My favorite thing about the win tonight is the aftermath. I was hopping for Sid to grab the trophy and parade it around the rink. As it turned out he didn't meet my expectations but he did pick it up and pose for a few pictures before skating it off the ice. Either way I was glad for him to at least touch it. Now the Penguins will wait a little over a week for the start of the final round but they may know as early as tomorrow who they will meet. No matter who comes out of the west the Penguins should be ready. Next Game Saturday May 30th at 8PM on NBC Article Comments(3)MathewLeaperMay-28-09 11:16 AM Fitzgerald78 and AnythingGoes, let me start off by welcoming you to the blog. Always glad to have individuals comment. I, myself have a good feeling this year. Detroit struggled during the regular season with keeping pucks out of the net and Pittsburgh is showing with regularity that they can put the puck past hot goaltenders. It will be a fun series but I think the Pens will pull it off in 5 or 6. Fitzgerald78May-28-09 7:43 AM I think the Pens win the Stanley Cup this year. I'm guessing in 7 games. I think the Penguins are a much better, more mature, more focused and a hungrier team than last year. This team right now has to sort of remind you of the two Stanley Cup winners in the early 90's. A two headed monster with spectacular veterans who play a supporting role. On top of that you have Marc Andre-Fleury who has been huge in the right times. Staal is a great defensive Forward. On top of that Penguins Defense has really picked up since last season. This is our year, it's our turn to drink the champaigne out of Lord Stanley's Cup! LETS GO PENS!!!! AnythingGoesMay-27-09 1:03 AM I'm glad he touched the trophy this year. They didnt touch it last year, and look what happened! So hopefully this year will go better for us. GO PENS!
