Why Tiger's Tiger

May 11, 2009 - Neil Rudel

While watching The Players Championship Sunday, this statistic just jumped off the broadcast: In the incredible 70 times when he's in the final pairing, the worst -- worst! -- Tiger Woods has ever shot is 73.

Which is what he shot Sunday.

That is absolutely amazing.

Most of the rest of the field has not been in the final pairing too often. Consider what happened to Alex Cejka, who was teamed with Woods in the final pairing and carried a five-shot lead into the last round.

Cejka shot a 42 on the front and wound up with a 79.

The last color most of the PGA Tour wants to see on Sundays is red.
