Sunny afternoon

April 16, 2009 - John Mehno

Beautiful day for a ball game here on the North Side.

Last night they were selling hot dogs for $1, and I'm hearing they ran out. How does that happen? There weren't that many people here. I'm assuming people loaded up. These were the "standard" (small) hot dogs, so you would need about four, I figure. If they'd had a big crowd, we may have had a hot dog riot.

If I live to be 100, I'll never understand the phenomenon of people going to Mellon Arena to sit on the lawn and watch the Penguins playoff game on a big screen TV. Wouldn't home or a local tavern be a better option?  It was cold and rainy last night, and they were still there. TV showed a guy who brought a two-month old baby. Insanity.
