A week to recover

The Steelers don't play this weekend, and they can use the time off.

They're already beaten up, five games into the season. Where does it go from here? Hard to see things getting a whole lot better, even with an open week.

Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of being overly-dramatic about injuries, but it doesn't look like he's embellishing the problem with his right shoulder. He missed two days of practice last week and had an injection in the shoulder. If you saw him getting up holding his arm in the Sunday night game in Jacksonville, you know he's not exaggerating things.

Roethlisberger isn't the only one. Willie Parker and Casey Hampton were on the sidelines Sunday, and Marvel Smith was carted off the field during the game. The timing is perfect for a week off. But I have the feeling the Steelers could use a couple more open weekends between now and then end of the season.
