YOU tell Gibson that size doesn't matter

August 26, 2008 - Amy Jo Hanna-Eckenrode

You may have seen him on a popular daytime or late night talk show. You may have read his book or have seen his line of products on Café Press. Perhaps you saw his performance at Carnegie Hall or Westminster. Certified by the Guiness Book of World Records as the tallest living dog, Gibson, a 7 1/2 year old, Harlequin Great Dane, has quite the celebrity life. Gibson who measured 107 cm (42.2 in) tall on August 31, 2004, (when the official size was recorded) is owned by Sandy Hall of Grass Valley, California. When Gibson stands on his hind legs, the 170-pound Dane is over 7 feet tall.

You can learn all about Gibson because of course he has his very own website: And, move over Paris, his own life of clothing.

However, my first thought was: “where does the big boy sleep?” Gibson as you’ll learn, has a 10-piece sectional retrofitted with mattress and soft cushions, that he shares with his family. At night, Gibson, like so many of fur-babies doesn't sleep with his mother on her bed, he sleeps ON her. According to Sandy, he has to be touching Mommie. He is very much a Mommie's Boy. Hmmm… where have we heard that…   Imagine the size of their pooper scooper. (actually, that was my first thought.)
