Sports on TV doesn't get much better than the U.S. Open's Saturday and Sunday rounds, which extended into prime time because of the Torrey Pines (Calif). venue.
While Tiger Woods couldn't outdo his incredible work Saturday -- who could? -- with a pair of eagle putts on par 5s to take a lead into the final round, he at least matched it by a playoff-forcing putt on No. 18 Sunday.
Rocco Mediate is a sentimental choice, at least for some locally who remember the Greensburg native playing in the Park Hills Classic.
Mediate, though, left the door open just a crack -- and it was enough for Woods to slip in for today's 18-hole playoff.
You would think Mediate's best chance to win came and went Sunday, but Woods is clearly struggling with a painful left knee.
