Going The Distance

May 14, 2008 - Erik Brown

Some days you just don’t feel like running, right? You know the feeling. You start mentally compiling a list of all the reasons why you just need to take the day off. Sometimes you overcome it. You tell yourself that the hardest step is that first step out the door, or you remind yourself how good you always feel at the end of a nice long run.

Sometimes that isn’t enough. For those days when you really need some extra motivation or inspiration, I suggest you read this story about John Challis, an 18 year old senior at Freedom High School in Beaver County, PA.

I first heard about John Challis while listening to Leading Off - Joe Shuta’s radio show on WVAM 1430 AM earlier this evening. I think you’ll agree his story is inspirational and certainly one that reminds us to live life to the fullest everyday.

“Because life ain’t about how many breaths you take. It’s what you do with those breaths.”    -- John Challis
