Three Great Websites For Runners
April 25, 2008 - Erik Brown
Here are three great websites for Central PA Runners to check out!
PennTrackXC.com does a tremendous job of covering the high school cross country and track & field scene for the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Their site is loaded with current articles, results, photo galleries, and even video of all the big high school meets happening in PA. There are also extensive archives of meet results and photos from prior years. High school athletes and their coaches can network with each other and monitor the results of the athletes they'll be competing against at their district meet or states. If you or someone you know is a high school runner, you owe it to yourself to check out PennTrackXC.com!
Central PA is blessed with a VERY active running club in the State College region. The Nittany Valley Running Club seeks "to establish a sound, continuing program of youth and adult fitness, to promote development and competition for all age groups, and to conscientiously prepare athletes for competition." They simply do an outstanding job on all counts! Check out their race calendar here.
For a race opportunity closer to home, don't miss the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA / Altoona Curve Home Run on May 3rd. They will have a 5 mile run, a 2 mile run, and a 2 mile walk. Each of these events begins in left field at the Blair County Ballpark and proceeds through Lakemont Park. The races begin at 5:05 PM. You can register online at www.hollidaysburgareaymca.org here.
Well I'm older now but still runnin'... against the wind.
