| | Out about townApril 8, 2008 - Emily Dimov-GottshallI recently visited a little shop in Hollidaysburg called "Stuff". It's a cute shop off the beaten path with lots of shabby chic and vintage things.
It has a nice feel with really unique displays composed of 1930's quilts, clothes hangers, art from the 1950's and so on. I would caution that you don't park on the side as the passenger side will have to step over the ivy growing in the curb area and various sculptures inside the ivy. However, it's a quaint feel that seems to jump out of a Romantic Home and garden magazine.
I loved it...and prices weren't too steep either. I got a pink laundry hamper for $10 and we're using it for toy hamper. I was a bit disappointed to find they don't work with local artists but it was a fun place to go nonetheless.
We also went by Mama T's in downtown Hollidaysburg and this was a pleasant surprise, I must say. It's MUCH larger than you would think. There are rooms and more rooms...every corner has something unusual to see and has a feel of a well packed thrift store. I love this! We got some good deals in regards to books and some fun clothes as well. It's a mix of vintage, modern and ever present kitsch. Of course, we were in heaven! :) Mama T's also offers consignments. So, if you want to unload some stuff and split the profits, this is the place to do it.
I love discovering little nooks like this and need to take a tour in downtown
