PSU not committed to non-con

August 2, 2007 - Neil Rudel

The Big Ten Media Daze in Chicago has come and gone without a whole lot of stop-the-press Penn State news.

Probably the most interesting, though not surprising, is how low the Nittany Lion administration is allowing the football office to set the bar concerning the non-conference schedule.

If you thought Florida International, Buffalo and Temple weren't exactly appetizing this year, you can probably hardly wait for 2008 when the Lions play Coastal Carolina and Arkansas State.

2009's non-con brings Eastern Michigan, Syracuse and Temple.

The "big" intersectional game for 2008-09? Syracuse.

You could suggest the thinking here is for Joe Paterno's successor to get off to a good start record-wise -- but you know full well there's a better than 50-50 chance that JoePa will still be there ...
