‘Apparently, our gov’t is for sale’
Anyone who paid attention in school should be aware that our government — created by far greater minds than those currently occupy the Oval Office or work in the White House — consists of three co-equal branches.
Each has a specific set of duties, responsibilities, and powers. Each branch also is to act as a check and balance on the other two should any one of those overstep or try to usurp more power than has been granted via the Constitution.
With that very brief and basic lesson in Civics, you now know more about our government than does Donald Trump.
That being said, there are members of Congress — mostly Republicans — who in the past were most proud and vocal in letting us know that they stood for “law and order,” who now willingly turn a blind eye to the illegal activities and money- making schemes of Trump and the members of his family.
Apparently our government is for sale to the highest bidder, regardless of said bidder’s relationship to the United States.
Even foreign adversaries can curry great favor with this administration for the small price of any compliment that flatters and feeds the childish ego of the liar-in-chief.
To the Republicans in Congress, including our very own congressman, as well as Sen. Pat Toomey, who have chosen to support Trump and his regime, and thereby forsaking the oath they swore to defend the constitution, I offer food for thought from President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address.
Sounding a warning to new nations not to align themselves with tyrannical countries or Communism for the sake of expediency, President Kennedy said, “… remember that in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.”
