Home rule study remains important

I misplaced my copies of the Mirror articles regarding comments by Commissioner Terry Tomassetti and former Altoona Mayor Bill Schirf regarding the endorsement of a study commission for Blair County Home Rule Charter.

I never considered that potential on a county basis. They surely peaked my interest based on the similar actions for the city of Altoona.

I am hoping my longtime friend, Blair County Commissioner Bruce Erb, will come on board supporting the study also, just so he will be informed.

My point is we can only remain ignorant in every aspect if we do not study the potential for “Home Rule Charter” as it would affect all of the Blair County.

Why would we not want to know if such a change would be a benefit or a hindrance for the citizens of Blair?

Once we complete a study, we, as citizens, are then able to make a determination, as informed citizens, to its benefit or not. Otherwise, we can only remain ignorant.
