Chorus concert ‘one big family’

I recently attended the Hollidaysburg Community Chorus and Children’s Community Chorus under the direction of Sandy Harteis, and what an enjoyable Sunday afternoon of Christmas music it was.

The Children’s Community Chorus is directed by Bonnie Ebersole with guest soloist Julie Hanlon, a very a talented lady from the Grier School and a private voice and piano instructor.

The first half of the program was from a cantata written by Heather Sorenson. In a beautiful yet mysterious way, she captured the essence of the true meaning of Christmas. In the second half, we were all smiling as they added some silliness to the lighthearted side of the holiday’s music.

This is a choir that loves each other and admires/respects their director, Harteis, and is all one big family. There are 10 members who have been there since the beginning, and there was a member in the audience who physically could not participate.

What a lot of heart and dedication in this chorus.

Let us remember how truly blessed we are at this Christmas season. Happy 2018.
