Missed opportunity at Fort Roberdeau
Thumbs up to the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association for hosting one of the state’s largest rifle frolics right here at the Altoona Rifle and Pistol Club.
Shooters from the local area and from many other states were here to shoot muzzle loaders as well as shoot long bow archery and throw tomahawks.
Thumbs down to the Fort Roberdeau staff for canceling the coinciding marketfaire.
They knew a year in advance that they would be responsible to run the event this year. They even started preparing by collecting contact information from participants at last year’s marketfaire.
This was not only a big revenue event for the fort, but quite unique in being paired up with the rifle frolic right next door.
We can only hope that it returns for next year.
