Flag flies proudly over SFU, Loretto
Words of commendation and thanks to the Third Order Regular Franciscan Brothers and Priests who reside at Mount Assisi Monastery in Loretto.
As a collegian and seminary student at Saint Francis College (now university) in Loretto, I discovered a stately flag pole erected on the property by Charles M. Schwab.
This true work of art stands on the hill outside the monastery. Often when traversing the ninth fairway of Immergrun Golf Course, I would be disappointed to see the pole empty and would think how beautiful and fitting to see our nation’s flag unfurled there.
As I was finishing nine holes recently, I was pleased to look up and see a flag majestically flying above the monastery and the town.
It was a beautiful sight and a source of pride for this grateful alumnus.
