Area needs Shuster’s loyalty, leadership
In the 1960s, our area was losing ground. The railroad, manufacturing–clothing/shoe factories, SKF, Butterick, A&P lost jobs or closed.
Altoona was considered out of the way.
Then came Bud Shuster. As he learned, his job and realizing the needs of his constituents the importance of connecting I-80 to I-70 was obvious.
Now we have I-99.
U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster, R-9th District, learned loyalty, service, a work ethic from his parents. He was elected to Congress and continued his father’s legacy.
Now we have the Norfolk Southern, a booming retail corridor, the Altoona Veteran’s Hospital, numerous trucking terminals, large distribution centers and more.
Any new person elected would go in to office as a “back bencher.”
It would take years if ever to attain the leadership role of Congressman Bill Shuster.
Experience, when it provides jobs and economic stability, cannot be ignored.
We need Bill Shuster.
