Halvorson shows class
In the Republican Congressional primary in the ninth district, the incumbent is waging a very narrow campaign against his opponent, Art Halvorson.
My personal experience is that although I hardly knew Halvorson at the time, when he heard that I needed a kidney transplant, he immediately offered to donate his.
In the end, it worked out better for his wife to donate, but Halvorson stood by just in case.
This act of generosity allowed a round-robin transplant action that resulted in eight donors and eight recipients. We need to judge his character by his deeds.
His willingness to give reveals the kind of man he really is and the kind of leader we need in our state and in our country.
These are not the actions of the self-serving hypocrite that Bill Shuster has painted.
