Volunteer firefighters are a community blessing
Although the huge fire in Hollidaysburg a week ago did not affect me personally, all of my appreciation in the world wouldn’t be enough for the firefighters who fought that fire.
We take them too much for granted.
How many of us realize what those volunteers do for us? Their work is dangerous with no monetary compensation – just their desire to help others.
How many of us could stand the dense smoke, the below-zero degree weather, the brisk winds and water turning to ice underfoot?
Those men deserve thanks for putting their lives on the line and may all volunteer and paid firefighters, who are there if and when we need them, be blessed.
