Embarrassment in Atlanta

After reading the article “Stranded in the South snow, ice hinders Atlanta traffic,” I am in disbelief that there was this much trouble because of a storm that produced less than 3 inches of snow.

I believe if there is any sign of a winter storm approaching in the south, they should just close down business, schools, etc. If the people know they cannot drive in any kind of winter weather, why drive?

If they don’t have any people working on the roads like we have up here in the north, and they don’t have the equipment, why would the mayor not force to close all of these places when it happened to them in 2011?
