Support energy alternatives
The editorial on Thursday Dec. 12 (“President’s wind power allegiance hypocritical”) is a glaring example of the Mirror’s editorial staff’s short-sighted, regressive and poorly informed understanding of science and economics.
While I certainly agree that eagles should be protected, and the death of “dozens of birds” each year by wind turbines should not be protected, I really doubt whoever penned this editorial really thought out the negative impact coal mining has had on the environment.
This includes the pollution burning fossil fuels creates and the health problems that result. These don’t harm just humans, but also wildlife, including the eagles you are so concerned about.
Clean energy, including wind, solar and other alternatives, is the future. The coal industry is dying, and to think otherwise is as foolish as thinking horses and buggies are coming back.
