Philipsburg committed to building unity

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.”

American industrialist Henry Ford recognized that teamwork is the key to success.

Teamwork is especially important within our local public schools community. Today, in the Philipsburg-Osceola School District we are fortunate to have a strong team committed to providing every child a quality education.

Our school team includes our community members, our students, our parents, our teachers and support staff, our administrators and our school board.

A few years ago, our school district community was suffering from ineffective leadership, demoralized school employees, discontented parents, and a general atmosphere of mistrust and malaise.

But as a community we care too much for our children to have allowed this atmosphere to continue, so collectively we made change.

Today, our school district has leaders who understand how important it is to respect the opinion of all of the team players, and to encourage open dialogue and discussion about school issues.

Now our team must focus its energy on Harrisburg. Since 2010, our district has lost $623,876 or on average about $320 per student. Rural poor districts have been hit hardest by the cuts.

To make our voices heard in Harrisburg we need to enroll all public education advocates as Partner for Public Education (PPE).

The PPE campaign already has more than 5,000 members statewide, who together are showing the politicians that we will not sit on the sidelines and allow them to make decisions that hurt our children.
