Trees not only issue; sidewalks are, too

I read the article about the trees recently, and I don’t understand why these trees were planted without asking the homeowners first.

We have a tree on the side of our house on 8th Street that we have been fighting to have something done with. During a storm this summer a branch broke off, and if a car or person would have been under it, they could have been seriously hurt or even killed.

We just went to a Shade Tree Commission meeting and got permission to cut the tree, but we still have the sidewalk issue.

The sidewalks were put in for access of wheelchairs, but the sidewalks are so badly damaged that you couldn’t get a wheelchair over them.

We are supposed to go to a City Council meeting to see what is going to be done about the sidewalks. I believe that it is not the homeowners’ responsibility to replace these sidewalks.

We didn’t want the trees in the first place, and to top it all off, we were told they are the wrong type of trees. The Shade Tree Commission is spending all the money on Broad Avenue trees. I think they are spending way too much to have these trees removed.

I don’t know where they are getting their tree removers, but if they would use money all over for the removal of the trees they would get more done and have happier homeowners.
