Let’s honor Flag Day

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that Flag Day is Friday.

It’s a holiday that is often overlooked because it falls between Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.

However, it’s an important holiday because it pays tribute to our flag and all that it stands for. Our flag represents the courage and pride of our nation – the brave servicemen and women who fight for us at home and abroad, the freedoms and ideals we are given, our democracy.

Our flag’s design represents all of that and more: white for purity and innocence, red for hardiness and valor, and blue for vigilance, perseverance and justice. The stripes represent the 13 original colonies at the birth of this country, while the stars represent the 50 states we have today.

Each time we fly the flag is another opportunity to reaffirm our faith and hope in our country and all it represents.

So I encourage you to observe the 236th birthday of the flag of the United States by flying it proudly on Flag Day. We can honor the flag by flying it every day.
