Lottery decision wrong

If I remember right, we fought a war a long time ago to keep our hard-earned money from going to the British.

Now Gov. Corbett wants to send them some by leasing our state’s lottery to this out-of-country company.

This is not only a slap in the face of our fellow Pennsylvanians, who run our lottery now, it also says Americans are not as smart as those across the Atlantic.

As a senior citizen of Pennsylvania, I have benefited from our lottery program. I feel that it is doing just fine. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.

Every for-profit dollar from our lottery program that is sent to Britain is one dollar less for our senior citizens.

If Sen. Eichelberger feels that the current lottery administrators are lacking something, maybe he should offer them some of his apparent expertise on this subject.

It makes one wonder if there is any promise of under-the-table money or campaign contributions involved in this ridiculous proposal?

When Gov. Rendell proposed leasing the Pa. Turnpike, I had similar feelings.
