Dorothy Jean Hoover

Dorothy Jean Hoover, 85, formerly of Tyrone, died Wednesday at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
She was born in Sandy Ridge, daughter of the late Robert W. and Olive Viola (Green) Flood. On Sept. 27, 1952, she married Clarence C. Hoover in Winchester, Va., and he died Jan. 17, 2013.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Sue (Jeff) McNelis of Tyrone; two sons: David Wayne Hoover of Monterey, Tenn., and Denny E. (Renee) Hoover of Belleville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family, as she was preceded in death by two sisters; four brothers; and a son, Steven Lynn Hoover, in 2012.
Dorothy was a 1952 graduate of Philipsburg High School. She worked as a sales clerk at Ames Department Store, Gardners Candies, McCrory’s 5&10 and the Silco Department Store.
She was a member of the Tyrone Church of the Good Shepherd and enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
There will be no viewing. Friends will be received from 9:30 until the 10 a.m. memorial service Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Tyrone. Inurnment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
