Norman J. Cruthers

April 24, 1944 - Aug. 22, 2019

Norman J. Cruthers, 75, Duncansville, passed away Thursday morning at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Norman K. and Ann Dorcas (Hoover) Cruthers.

Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Lou (Horvath) Cruthers; two daughters: Deborah (Patrick) McClain and Diana (PJ) Fether; eight grandchildren: Cody deKoning, Damon Hesley, Madelaine Hesley, Mara Hesley, Rachel McClain, Ashley McClain, Patrick McClain and Sierra McClain; a brother, Arthur J. Cruthers; a sister, Carol Albright Webster; and a brother-in-law, Jim Horvath.

Norman was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori G. Cruthers deKoning.

He was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and was the owner and operator of Norm’s Used Cars, where he worked alongside his wife, Mary Lou, for 37 years.

Norman enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fisherman. He loved animals and would often feed and take care of stray cats around his home, at times, even taking them to the vet and paying for their medical bills. Above all, he loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park. A burial will take place at Alto-Reste Park.
