Gladys A. Dodson

April 25, 1919 – August 1, 2019

Gladys A. Dodson, 100, Roaring Spring, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday evening at her residence.

She was born in Donnertown, daughter of the late David and Susan K. (Sell) Beck. On Aug. 20, 1938, she married Russell D. Dodson. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1998.

Surviving are a son, David L. Dodson of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Barbara J. Maruschak of Linglestown; a grandson, Will Maruschak and companion, Bobbi Wagner, of Paxtonia; three great-grandchildren: Kaylah, Kylie and Tavin; and her special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers: Simon, William, Edward, Clifford and Floyd.

She attended Roaring Spring High School and retired from Nason Hospital as a nurse’s aide with 12 years of service. She was the oldest surviving member of the First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, where she had previously been active in Bible school and Bible study. She had also previously been involved with Girl Scouts and the American Cancer Society.

Gladys enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking, quilting and going to Bible study.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, Pastor David Crumrine officiating. Interment will follow in Alto-Reste Park.
