Timothy A. Friday Sr.

Timothy A. Friday Sr., 58, Tyrone, died Monday at his residence.
He was born in Tyrone, son of the late Calvin C. and Janice Mae (Ingram) Friday. On Jan. 6, 1989, he married Bonnie Sue Scott in Virginia.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Timothy A. Friday Jr. of Altoona and Brandon Friday of Tyrone; a sister, Lois (Jim) Sechrist and nephew, Nathan Sechrist, both of Tyrone.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Victoria; and a niece, Julie Sechrist.
Timothy was a 1978 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1979-94, serving aboard the USS Kansas City, the Yellowstone AD-41, the USS Conyngham and the USS Normandy, a cruiser and guided missile ship. He received the Humanitarian Service Award for saving 24 Korean people on a row boat.
He had worked security for the Hennaman Agency and also worked for the Snyder Township and Bellwood police departments. From 1995-2017, he worked for the Walmart Distribution Center in Woodland.
Timothy was a member of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Osceola Mills. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2019, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, and from noon until the 1 p.m. service Saturday, July 13, 2019, at the funeral home, Pastor Richard McCahan officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Blair Memorial Park.
