Nancy L. Lightner

Aug. 30, 1941 – July 4, 2019

Nancy L. Lightner, 77, formerly of Altoona, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, surrounded by her loving family at her home after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Sheldon and Dorothy (Cruse) Lightner.

Surviving are her daughters: Lori (Clark) Civils and husband, Todd, of Altoona, and Amy Porter and husband, Scott, of Patton, and with whom Nancy resided; two granddaughters: Erika (Lightner) Porter and Shelby Civils; two great-grandsons: Jude and Derek Lightner-Porter; two brothers: Harold Lightner and wife, Katherine, of Tucson, Ariz., and Marion “Bulldog” Lightner and wife, Mary Lou, of Duncansville; a sister, LaVerna Sollenberger of Duncansville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Marvin Leroy; and five brothers: George, Ronald, Richard, Alvin and Thomas.

Nancy was a member of the Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren, Altoona. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandsons who made her light up just by mentioning their names.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Anthony P. Scaglione Funeral Home, 1908 Seventh Ave., Altoona. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
