Angela Martha Maddas, 94, Aaronsburg, formerly of Altoona, passed peacefully at home into the love and light of God on Wednesday, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Bellwood, daughter of the late Bernardino Berardi and Cleonice Di Christofaro of Acquaviva d’Isernia Molise, Italy. On Nov. 27, 1947, she married Alfred Benedict Maddas, a WWII veteran, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood.

Surviving are her loving husband, Alfred Benedict; seven children: Judy Lynn, Jessica May (Rick) Alfred, Alan (Chris), Joan Marie, James Michael (Joyce), Angela Joy (Braxton) and former spouse, Christopher, and Joyce Maureen; 12 grandchildren: Alfred, Krista, Beth, Angela, Jennifer, Matthew, Anthony, DeAnna, Jonathan, Andrew, Amanda and Richie; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by 16 brothers and sisters; and an infant son and daughter: Joseph Paul and Jennifer Lee.

Angela was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. She was co-owner and secretary of Valley View Body Shop of Altoona for 25 years with her spouse.

She was a former member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Altoona.

Angela will be loved and cherished for her lively spirit and beautiful and generous heart. She had a passion for cooking with love for her family, tending to her flower garden and was an avid reader.

A private celebration of Angela’s life and Catholic Mass is being planned. Arrangements are by PA Simple Cremation, Clearfield.

Memorial donations may be made to Angela’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
