George F. Shaw

George F. Shaw, 92, Martinsburg, formerly of Roaring Spring, died Sunday at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring, following a brief illness.
He was born in Leamersville, son of the late Fred B. and Lena (Spidle) Shaw. On April 29, 1947, he married Aldine A. Evans in Duncansville, and Mrs. Shaw died Feb. 4, 2017.
Surviving are a son, Lane G. Shaw and wife, Kathy, of Alpharetta, Ga.; a grandson, Trevor L. Shaw and wife, Jennifer, of Woodstock, Ga.; three great-grandchildren: Mattie, Lauryn and Amelia; a step-granddaughter, Carrie Ann Sienkiewicz and husband, Scott, of Dawsonville, Ga.; a step-great-grandson, Jack; and a sister, Bea Ritchey of Diamond Bar, Calif.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Eleanor Mallory and Helen Guyer.
George was a 1945 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Upon his discharge, George worked as a retail associate for Sears and then became proprietor of several retail businesses in the Roaring Spring Area.
He was a member of Christ Church, Roaring Spring, where he had served as an elder. He had been a member of the Roaring Spring Lions and the Jaffa Motor Corp.
George enjoyed making stained glass, growing day lilies and flower gardening.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing; however friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funereal service Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Christ Church, Roaring Spring, Pastor John Northwang officiating. Interment will be made at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. Arrangements are by Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
