Shirley J. Davis

Shirley J. Davis, 78, Imler, went home to the Lord on Friday.

She was born in Reynoldsdale, daughter of the late Michael and Lula G. (Imler) Berkey. She married Charles Ken Davis on Oct. 13, 1961, in Winchester, Va.

She is survived by her husband; two children: Lisa Imler and husband, Todd, of Imler and Dwayne Davis and wife, Lynea, of Roaring Spring; and six grandchildren: Andrew, Michele and Lauren Imler and Philip, Phoebe and Phenix Davis.

She was the last surviving member of her brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Berkey; three sisters: Mae Hengst, Dorothy Claar and Alice Fickes; two half brothers: Roy Berkey and Samuel Beard; two half sisters: Pearl Cox and Leah Barefoot; an infant daughter; and an infant grandchild: Philemon.

Shirley was a 1959 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School and had worked at Martinsburg Cove Shoe for two years before marriage.

Shirley had last attended Osterburg Reformed Church. She had taught Sunday school at the Church of the Nazarene in St. Clairsville. She enjoyed being a housewife, cooking and baking. She enjoyed getting together with her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and attending their band concerts and music concerts, and watching them march in the band at football games.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Ryot Church of the Nazarene, 392 Dunkard Hollow Rd., Alum Bank, with her nephew, Pastor Kevin Davis, officiating. Interment will be at Imler Valley Cemetery.
