Mary Louise Hoover
May 30, 1935 – May 11, 2019
Mary Louise Hoover, 83, Sterling, Va., formerly of Altoona, passed away Saturday in Virginia.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth “Betty” Moore (Young) Buckreis. She was married twice; first to William Clarence Stiver on April 6, 1963, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1968. She then married David Neal Hoover on May 5, 1971.
Surviving are a son, William T. Stiver of Harrisburg; five daughters: Pamala L. (Matt) Weitzel of Duncansville, Annette M. Miller, Phyllis A. “Skip” Hoover and Tracy L. (Cristobal) Rivas, all of Sterling, Va., and Elizabeth Ann (Donald) Hoover-Jeter of Nokesville, Va.; 11 grandchildren: Mary (Mel) Wilt, April (Gary) Marsh, Joshua Miller, Dylan and Sydney Jeter and Marvin, Isabella, Joseph, Gabriella, Daniella and Christopher Rivas; four great-grandchildren: Drake, Reese and Ella Marsh, and Jayden Miller; a brother, Joseph A. Buckreis of Elkheart, Ind.; and two sisters: Martha M. “Mitzi” (Fred) Dailey of Boalsburg and Grace “Skip” Buckreis in Kansas; and former husband, David Hoover.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Fred R. Buckreis, Ralph Buckreis and Thomas G. Buckreis; and three sisters: Betty Jean Antesberger, Ruth Ann Frederick and Nancy T. Myers.
She was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona, and Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Duncansville.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. today, May 14, 2019, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, Pastor Rod Snyder officiating. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
