Wissinger-Racicot

Kathleen T. Wissinger-Racicot, 82, Killeen, Texas, died in the early morning hours on Monday at peace at her home, surrounded by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, friends and caregivers.

She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late William B. and Lillian (Long) Myers.

Kathleen was an extraordinary woman who earned a Master’s degree in psychology after raising nine (9!) children. She was together with Philip Racicot (well-trained and disciplined husband) for 37 years. She leaves behind eight of her children, 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Kathleen was a force of nature (should another massive comet smash into Earth, life will continue on with cockroaches and Wissingers surviving).

We thank you all in advance for the prayers we know are to come. While we are all sad with her passing, we celebrate a magnificent life, well lived, that we all had a part in.

Surviving are eight children: Allen Jr. (Rosemary) Wissinger of Franklin, Texas, Theresa (Richard) Wissinger-Schrimsher of Belton, Texas, Lawrence (Anne) Wissinger of Longwood, Fla., Richard (Yvonne) Wissinger of Belton, Texas, Steven (Zuleica) Wissinger of Lithia, Fla., Lisa Wissinger-Haussner of Killeen, Texas, John (Monica) Wissinger of Trophy Club, Texas, and Janine Wissinger-Flecha of Killeen, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; her six siblings: Thomas (Carol) Myers of Loretto, Joanne (Edgar) Link of Carrolltown, Eugene (Marilyn) Myers of Gallitzin, Denise (Alex) DeStafano of Ashville, Lou Ann (Kirby) Smith of Shingle Springs, Calif., and Matt (Mary) Myers of Erie; a sister-in-law, Cecelia Myers of Gallitzin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Marie (Wissinger) Nicholas; a grandson, Richard David Wissinger Jr.; a granddaughter, Angela Renee Shutes; a sister, Mary Elizabeth (Myers) Kos; and two brothers: Pete (Beverly) Myers and Dan Myers.

Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. today, May 30, 2019, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Killeen, Texas. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killeen, Texas. Burial will follow at the Killeen City Cemetery.
