Ethel S. Musselman

Ethel S. Musselman, 100, Bedford, passed away Wednesday at her home.

She was born in Pavia, daughter of Lawrence Sr. and Kathryn (Berkey) Gardner, and stepdaughter of Flora Gardner.

Surviving are two sons: Myrl Sr. (Carol) and Galen (Wanee); three daughters: Rosanna (Terry) Paul, Doris Jean Musselman and Darlene Tilson; nine grandchildren: Myrl Jr. (Rhonda), Lou Ann (Patrick) Timmons, Donna (Mike) Keeney, Carolyn Musselman, Jennifer Musselman, Tammy (Bob) Frazier, Tracy (Scott) VanVlack, Miria (Chris) Dean and Jean (Todd) Hartman; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Carl Suter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands: Chester Musselman and Dorsey Musselman; a son, David Musselman; two brothers: Lawrence Jr. and Gerald Gardner; two sisters: Margaret and Pearl Gardner; and a son-in-law, Jerry Tilson.

Ethel was a long-time member of the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday school for many, many years. She also taught vacation bible school

Ethel was very involved with her family and community. She was one of the founding members of the Central Pennsylvania Truckers Association and assisted with writing and publishing “The United Truckers News” for many years. She and her husband, Dorsey, owned Belgian draft horses and were long-time members of the Bedford County Draft Animal Association.

The family would like to thank the caregivers who spent time with Ethel in recent years. They provided extra support to the family, which allowed her to continue to live at her home.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2019, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Friends will also be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, March 18, 2019, at Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, Pastor David Maxwell officiating. Interment will be at Upper Claar Cemetery.
