Robert R. Rajnish

Robert R. Rajnish, 87, Duncansville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Barnesboro, son of the late John and Verna (Shangula) Rajnish. On Sept. 2, 1954, he married Mary “Dolly” Yonkoske in Cresson.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Ed (Naomi) Rajnish of Lakemont; six grandchildren: David Rajnish and Christina (Stephen) Casalini, Mandy (John) Freel, Shelly Rajnish, Carly (Jamie) Bowden and Matt Rajnish; a stepgranddaughter, Alicia (Todd) Haggard; seven great-grandchildren; and his dog, Angel. Robert was the last of his family.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert E.
Robert was a graduate of Barnesboro High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a laborer at Small Tube Products. Prior to that, he owned the Penn Way Motel and Restaurant in Cresson from 1954 to 1974. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lakemont.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards (pinochle), watching football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, and working at his restaurant.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont, Monsignor Michael Becker, celebrant. Committal with military honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
