Francis C. ‘Frank’ Adams

Francis C. “Frank” Adams, 72, Altoona, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of Frances E. (Frank) Adams and the late Francis P. Adams. On Oct. 18, 1969, he married Natalie M. Fiore in Winchester, Va.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Carianne A. (Dillon) Finch of Glen Burnie, Md.; two sons: Patrick F. (Amy Butler) Adams of Felton and Michael P. (Ashlee Newberry) Adams of Wyndmoor; six grandchildren: Andrew, Clare, Elizabeth, Stella, Beckett and Luna; his mother; two sisters: Patricia (Roger) Shingler of Altoona and Regina (Thomas) Piecknick of Sandy Lake; a sister-in-law, Donna Adams of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Adams.

Frank was a 1964 graduate of Altoona High School and graduated from Williamsport Area Community College with an associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology. He retired as a project estimator in 2013 from Leonard S. Fiore Inc. after over 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Naval Reserve veteran serving in Vietnam and Desert Shield. After 30 years of service, he retired as Command Master Chief of NMCB-23.

He was a life-long member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Naval Enlisted Retirees Association and was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 49 for 29 years.

Frank enjoyed golfing, working in his workshop and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Altoona, Father James Dugan officiating. Com­mit­tal with military honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
