Walter W. Focht, 90, Altoona, passed away Sun­day afternoon at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Yellow Springs, son of the late David W. and Flora Mae (Woomer) Focht. On Nov. 7, 1945, he married Janet L. Sinclair in Maryland, and she preceded him in death on May 11, 2018.

Surviving are three children: Ken W. Focht Sr. and wife, Marlene, Don W. Focht and wife, Karen, and Karen L. Maher and husband, Rich, all of Altoona; two daughters-in-law: Kris Focht and Cyndi Lovas; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons: Alan W. Focht, in 2005, and infant Steven E. Focht; four sisters; and eight brothers.

Before his recent illness, Walter was working for the Altoona Mirror in customer service, as well as Fisher Auto Parts. He had previously worked at McMahon’s Dairy, Morrison Cove Dairy, Reed Tobacco and Blatchford Furniture Co.

He was a member of the Trans4mation Church, formerly Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, where he was active for many years serving on the church board. Walter also drove for the bus ministry of the church. He was proud to have finished his GED at age 60.

Walter enjoyed attending the Lighthouse men’s ministry, horses, animals and hunting. He was a member of the Bellwood Beagle Club and the Horse Club.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, the Rev. James Balzano officiating. Inter­ment will be made at Asbury Cemetery, Altoona.
