Kenneth E. ‘Gene’ Wyerman

Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Wyerman, 87, Short Mountain, rural Williamsburg, passed away Monday morning at his residence.
He was born in Duncansville, son of the late Paul Wyerman and Helen (Weaver) Wyerman-Dibert. On Feb. 2, 1954, he married Frances R. Sottile in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 64 years; a daughter, Gina E. (David) Williams of rural Williamsburg; two grandchildren: Lorie L. Nicewonger and Cory A. Williams, both of rural Williamsburg; two great-grandsons: Garrett and Cole Nicewonger; a sister-in-law, Joann M. (William) Lang of Moncks Corner, S.C.; two nieces: Kelly (Chris) Clouser and Jennie (Mike) Breslin, both of Williamsburg; a nephew, Louis (Autumn) Lang of Mechanicsburg; and numerous stepsisters and stepbrothers.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mona Claycombe; a special grandson, Shawn Nicewonger; a stepsister, Mary Ann Dibert; and a stepbrother, Barry Dibert.
Gene was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1948-52 and attaining the rank of corporal.
For many years, he was employed at his family’s restaurant, Louie’s Coral Lounge, on top of Short Mountain, where he served in various capacities. He was also a rural mail carrier of the Williamsburg area for more than 20 years.
Gene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg; Standing Stone County Club, Huntingdon; a lifetime member of Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg; and a former member of Heidelburg Country Club, Altoona.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing and playing pinochle.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be recited. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Father Stephen Honeygosky celebrant. Interment with military honors will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
